CrowdFundBeat's Silicon Valley Meets Crowdfunders & Left Field Design

posted Apr 6, 2014, 9:36 PM by Sallar Khorram

After a fantastic couple of days up in Palo Alto the CrowdFund Beat organized "Silicon Valley Meets Crowdfunders" Convention is over...

We at
CrowdFunding Planning had the pleasure of being present at this momentous event hosted by our good friend Sydney Armani of CrowdFundBeat.com. Event's such as this one really show that the crowdfunding community is here... and we're here to stay. Our own CKO David Khorram was asked to speak regarding CrowdFunding Planning and our work in social media and boosting organic social reach.

On a serendipitous note, while at the conference I ran into Rich, creator of the KeyClip and KeyCase, which believe it or not I funded a few months ago. I've added a link of his campaign below because I believe this can be used as somewhat of a template for other future aspiring campaign owners. His overall organization and presentation coupled with an amazing product is a great framework for crowdfunders. The amount of post campaign communication along with the quality of updates is what causes my continued hope that reward-based crowdfunding will not fade away with time.  I can't wait to recieve my own KeyClip with the RF blocking shield!

Rich's company Left Field Design based in Menlo Park, CA also created the Chain Luber a product which frankly I'm surprised wasn't created years ago. With it's well thought out design, no drip cap, and perfect functionality it is a requirement for every cycler and you can find it on Amazon!

Social Media Tips for Businesses Looking to Raise their Crowd

So, you want to boost your social standing before you launch…

There are some important tips to remember when you’re building a community or drawing people to your company page. Firstly, folks on social media don’t respond to urgency the way you think they do. For example, “Check this out now! YOU WON’T BE SORRY!” isn’t going to have the desired effect. Try some targeted questions like “Do you have the solution to home integration?”

It’s very important to remember that Social Media is a two-way street. You must take the time to reply to comments and in a timely fashion too! Interact with people, retweet or share things that interest you. Make your profile or page an interesting source for not only information about yourself but also relevant information that doesn’t necessarily come straight from yourself.

However be genuine, when you join a community and you leave generic comments on someone else’s post then turn around and self-promote you’re likely to be thrown out of the community. It’s as if you are in any social gathering and you cut someone off to talk about a new product that your company has made… how rude is that?! In short, get engaged. Building and maintaining a social media presence is not easy. It’s a full time job and no one can do it alone believe it or not one of the newest jobs created in 2014 is CCO “Chief Content Officer”. Yep, that’s right a whole new executive position for someone that sits and thinks of ways to get an audience engaged.

Ms. Genuity, Mom Community Crowdfunding Site Launched

posted Mar 31, 2014, 12:12 PM by Sallar Khorram

Summary: Ms. Genuity is the first crowdfunding website exclusively for the mom community. MsGenuity is focused on engaging moms developing innovative products, projects and ventures with the 81 million member, mom community having an annual purchasing power of $1+ trillion.

Ms. Genuity launched a reward-based crowdfunding website exclusively for the mom community. On the site, moms developing creative products, projects or community ventures can reach out for financial contributions to the 81 million member, mom community within the United States. In return, supporters receive a reward, usually the product under development or public recognition of the contribution.

Mom crowdfunding is an extension of the US mom entrepreneur infrastructure. It is a collaborative environment of over 6 million mom-owned business, 1000’s of business coaches and mentors and 4.2 million like-minded mom bloggers who influence over 60% of on-line purchases. Crowdfunding is needed to overcome the primary problem limiting the growth of woman owned enterprises - money. As reported by a 2012 Kauffman Foundation study, A Rising Tide, lack of funding is limiting woman startups. According to Alicia Robb, principal investigator, women entrepreneurs receive only $5 of every $100 of startup financing by the “old-boy” dominated investment community. Ms. Genuity is focused on leveling the playing field.

Ms. Genuity differs from mainstream crowdfunding sites, such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo, in two fundamental areas. First, MsGenuity is focused on one market – the mom community that has a purchasing power of $1+ trillion – greater than the GDP of 173 countries. Secondly, MsGenuity facilitates fund raising by providing moms with one-on-one crowdfunding campaign coaching. It includes project development and social media campaign support. The company’s goal is to provide funding to commercialize innovative product and services benefitting the mom community.

About Ms. Genuity:
Ms. Genuity is a global crowdfunding firm supporting the mom community, exclusively. The company is structured to coach entrepreneurs through the crowdfunding process. Support includes product evaluation and crowdfunding social media services. The company’s long term goal is to fund 1000’s of mompreneurs each year. In late 2014, Ms. Genuity will provide equity-based crowdfunding to enable entrepreneurs to solicit investment from non-accredited investors. Ms. Genuity anticipates reward-based crowdfunding funding to support programs raising from $5,000 to $100,000 and the equity investment crowdfunding programs raising from $500,000 to $1,000,000.
